One Original Dynasty Star Has A Blunt Opinion About The CW Reboot

Adam Carrington Gordon Thomson Dynasty

The CW's Dynasty reboot made its debut last night, and one person who was almost certainly not watching was actor Gordon Thomson. Thomson, who played Adam Carrington on the original Dynasty, pulled no punches in sharing his opinion on the series in the quote below:

I have had a look at the new Dynasty and I am appalled. What the fuck is the CW doing? It's utter shit.

That's just the tip of the diamond iceberg, though, when it comes to Gordon Thomson's problems with the new Dynasty. Thomson tears into the show not unlike Joan Collins and Linda Evans used to tear into each other on set back in the original series. In Thomson's opinion, which he shared with The Daily Beast, there's not a thing the new series does right. The actor even goes so far as to say original producer Aaron Spelling would be having "major fits" in his grave if he witnessed the current product!

What Gordon Thomson's biggest issue with the new Dynasty seems to be, although he never explicitly confirms it, is that the series is a retelling of the original series. Thomson specifically mentions how other reboots like Dallas returned as a continuation, and how this series goes all the way back to the start and apparently does everything wrong. In reference to the show's infamous catfights, Thomson refers to them as "kitty snits." Truth be told, however, the series' opening battle didn't seem too far off from a scuffle seen in the original series:

As far as whether or not Gordon Thomson would ever grace the new Dynasty with his presence, the actor gave the firm "no" that anyone reading this could've already imagined he would give. That appears for the best anyway, as Thomson states that no one from the original cast was asked to appear on the series. That bit does seem odd as the show's original executive producers, Richard and Esther Shapiro, are attached to the reboot, so you'd think they'd want some of the original cast back as well. While other actors from the past may still yet appear, one has to wonder if Thomson's invitation will ever come after this scathing review.

Those unswayed by Gordon Thomson's opinion can catch a new episode of Dynasty Wednesday, October 18th at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. The series comes from the same minds that brought fans Gossip Girl and The O.C., so anyone wanting more of either of those shows might be able to get their fix watching this.
