Last Comic Standing is a reality competition series in which comedians audition to prove how funny they are in the hopes of winning $250,000 and a talent deal with NBC. They also get a new Honda and a starring appearance in the Bally’s Las Vegas show, Jubilee!.

The series starts out with comedians auditioning for various talent scouts. The best of the best go on to Vegas to perform for huge crowds. They get narrowed down to 12 finalists. Week after week the finalists get narrowed down and finally, America gets to vote for the winner.

This season, among the talent scouts are various stars from NBC’s past and present series. Among them are Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Brian Baumgartner and Kate Flannery (The Office), Dave Foley (Newsradio), Neil Flynn (Scrubs), French Stewart (Third Rock From The Sun), Josh Gomez (Chuck) and Lonny Ross and Keith Powell (30 Rock).

I always say I’m going to watch this series whenever I see the promos but for some reason, I never do. I might catch an episode or two but it must conflict with something else I’m watching because I’ve never really gotten into it before. That said, the celebrity appearances by people from shows like The Office and 30 Rock does add an extra bit of incentive to get me to tune in. Stand-up comedy is always fun, even when if we have to sit through some awful routines during the audition rounds.
