The upcoming Titans TV show will feature a team of some legendary characters from DC Comics history, led by none other than Dick Grayson himself. The series, which will air on DC's direct-to-consumer streaming service, is long-awaited by DC Comics fans who have been dying for a live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans. Now, DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has revealed that the Titans won't be the only team of superheroes to appear on the new show. The Doom Patrol has a part to play as well. Take a look at Geoff Johns' announcement:

Judging by Geoff Johns' post on Twitter, the Doom Patrol will appear in the fifth episode of the first season of Titans, and it seems the episode will fittingly be titled "The Doom Patrol." Fans of DC Comics can be confident that the episode will do justice to the characters from the comics, given the writer. The image indicates that Geoff Johns himself penned the script.

Unfortunately, there's not much else we can say about the Titans version of the Doom Patrol based on just this one image, but the odds are pretty good that the group's appearance will have something to do with Beast Boy, who will be played by Big Hero 6's Ryan Potter. In DC Comics lore, the Doom Patrol is a team of superheroes who have been outcast as freaks and misfits. They devote their lives to protecting a society that doesn't accept them for who they are, led by a man who may not be exactly what he seems. The first incarnation of the group debuted way back in 1963, and Beast Boy was an original member.

The character description for the Titans version of Beast Boy doesn't mention the Doom Patrol, but there's certainly the potential for them to have played a part in his life after his transformation into a superpowered being. Beast Boy -- a.k.a. Garfield Logan -- gained the ability to turn himself into any animal due to unforeseen side effects of mysterious drug treatment for a very rare disease. While the ability to change into animals is pretty incredible, there's a big drawback: his skin permanently turns green. Basically, Beast Boy would fit right in with the Doom Patrol before he joined the Titans.

Technically, it's possible that Beast Boy will first appear on Titans as part of the Doom Patrol in the fifth episode. Titans may slowly build the team up, with Dick Grayson finding new teammates one at a time. That would allow audiences to get a good look at each of the heroes in their own turn, and it would also mean waiting a while before meeting all over them. We already know that the team will be comprised of Dick Grayson as Robin (at least to start), Raven, Starfire, Hawk, and Dove. Perhaps they won't all be introduced right off the bat.

Or maybe Dick Grayson rounds them all up right away and the Doom Patrol just drops by to pay Beast Boy a visit in Episode 5. We can only wait and see. No premiere date has been released for the DC direct-to-consumer streaming service, but it may be available by the end of 2018.
