The Walking Dead Added A Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Star
The Walking Dead may be saying goodbye to the star of its show, but that doesn't mean the upcoming season is any less star-studded. In fact, the franchise just welcomed on a Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them star in a move that will beef up the cast's star power in Andrew Lincoln's absence. Actor Dan Fogler just joined the series, in a role that's as shrouded in as much intrigue as it is mystery.
Dan Fogler will be a part of The Walking Dead season that will be featured the same time the supposedly exciting Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindewald premieres in theaters Friday, November 16. Fogler, who was in the first installment of the Harry Potter spinoff, will reprise his role as the American Jacob Kowalski. As mentioned, ComicBook had no concrete details regarding Fogler's role, so it's hard to know how significant his character will be in the series. The lack of information is a bit surprising, as the show's previous casting news of actress Lauren Ridloff gave far more information.
For example, Dan Fogler's casting might be a guest role spot that just so happens to go down a couple weeks before the premiere of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindewald. A short stint on a show like The Walking Dead could be a wise way to market an actor right before a major motion picture, although it's hard to believe this is a move strictly to promote the upcoming film.
After all, The Walking Dead is soon to be a Rick-less affair. With a few series regulars having their roles expanded or possibly beefed up to help keep the show rolling, an actor with Dan Fogler's star power is a high-profile casting and a fair bit of talent to inject into the series and help shake things up. It may still not be enough to get fan's minds completely off the fact that they don't want Rick Grimes to leave, but it's a start.
Dan Fogler joins The Walking Dead at an interesting time, as new showrunner Angela Kane revealed Season 9 will dive further into a specific problem in post-apocalyptic living. Infrastructure continues to breakdown nationwide, which will result in horses making a comeback as well as other similar changes to the series. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear magic is on the table, although that's probably fitting considering Fogler's characters No-Maj status in Fantastic Beasts.
More details on Dan Fogler's casting may be revealed during The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con, which CinemaBlend will be on site to cover. Stick with us for the latest news from the Hall H floor, and head over to our summer premiere guide to see what's on television in the coming weeks.
