The Big Bang Theory Is Finally Getting William Shatner As A Guest Star

William Shatner Is Heading To The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory has a lot going on right now. It is, after all, the show’s final season on CBS, which and the show would very much prefer to go out with a bang rather than a whimper. In fact, in an upcoming episode, the show has a slew of guest stars set to appear, including the elusive William Shatner. You can take a look at the full guest list, below.

That’s right, William Shatner will finally be visiting The Big Bang Theory. Although CBS has not given us a date or even an episode number yet, we do know one of the final Big Bang Theory episodes will feature the above celebrities as well as a game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Unlike pop culture figures such as Wil Wheaton, William Shatner has not previously appeared on The Big Bang Theory, so the fact his name is on the above shortlist for the Dungeons and Dragons episode is a big get.

We’ve actually heard from William Shatner himself on the matter. Apparently, those involved with The Big Bang Theory have asked the actor to pop in numerous times, but according to Shatner “what they wanted me to do didn't seem to be exactly right.” So, even though the show has been on the air for more than a decade now, the Star Trek franchise alum has never been a part of the series.

He’ll now join the likes of a slew of Star Wars vets, as well as Stephen Hawking, other Star Trek veterans (like Wheaton and even Leonard Nimoy voiced an action figure) and many, many more.

In particular, I’m loving the show got Joe Manganiello along with some other pop culture nerds for the guest stint. You might not pinpoint Joe Manganiello as a Dungeons and Dragons player, but it’s common knowledge that he’s a huge fan of the role-playing game and his love of said game is well-documented. He even built his own dungeon in the wine cellar he sells with his wife Sofia Vergara. So his inclusion in this gaming group for an upcoming episode is very fitting.

Although there was some talk initially that the long-running CBS comedy could run for a while longer, Jim Parsons' decision to quit ultimately meant the show will be wrapping up sooner rather than later. The Big Bang Theory will be wrapping up Season 12 and we expect there to be tears, laughter and social media posts on the final day of production. While we wait, at least we know there are still a lot of exciting things to look forward to before CBS airs the show’s finale. We’ll be sure to keep you posted every single step of the way.

The Big Bang Theory returned to the Thursday night schedule earlier this month on January 3. Be sure to take a look at when your other favorites are returning with our full midseason premiere schedule.
