Amazon's Dark Tower TV Series Cast A Game Of Thrones Favorite

Game of Thrones will come to an end in the not-too-distant future, and fans will have to say goodbye to their favorite characters. The good news is that at least one popular Thrones actor is already slated to return to the small screen in another dark fantasy project. Jerome Flynn, a.k.a. the sellsword Bronn, signed on to appear in Amazon's upcoming Dark Tower TV show.

Jerome Flynn will play a cowboy in the Amazon's The Dark Tower. He told The Mirror that he "always said I'd like to play a cowboy," and one came along thanks to The Dark Tower. He didn't reveal who he would be playing or whether it would be a character from the pages of Stephen King's source material. The Amazon series won't be a straight adaptation of King's Dark Tower novel, after all.

One character we can rule out as Jerome Flynn's is Roland Deschain. The lead character will be played by Sam Strike of Nightflyers fame. Will Jerome Flynn's cowboy be an ally to Roland? Or an enemy? Or perhaps collateral damage on Roland's quest? Only time will tell. It's probably safe to say that his new character won't be too similar to Bronn from Game of Thrones.

Vikings actor Jasper Pääkkönen was reportedly cast as The Man in Black, although that was not confirmed by Amazon. Glen Mazzara of The Walking Dead and Damien is on board as executive producer and showrunner.

For a while, The Dark Tower seemed unlikely to come together as a TV series. Rumor had it a couple of years ago that a prequel series could release starring Idris Elba as Roland, reprising his role from the Dark Tower movie. That series never happened, but Amazon later picked up The Dark Tower to craft a series.

Amazon's series will still be a prequel, though, as it will reportedly tell the story of how Roland became the gunslinger of the Dark Tower novels, as well as his first experience with the Man in Black. Not nearly as much info has released about Amazon's Dark Tower as Amazon's Lord of the Rings, but there's still enough for prospective viewers to be optimistic.

There's no news about when The Dark Tower might premiere, and Amazon has other high-profile projects in the works with the likes of Jack Ryan, more Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and of course the Lord of the Rings series. So, it may be a bit of a wait before Game of Thrones fans get to see a new side of Jerome Flynn.

For now, you can catch Jerome Flynn in the remaining episodes of Game of Thrones. He didn't appear in the most recent episode, though, and he probably won't appear in the Battle of Winterfell episode unless he basically teleported to the North from King's Landing to potentially complete his dark mission, but it's possible. Game of Thrones isn't renowned for its stellar pacing the last couple of seasons. New episodes air Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
