Why Blood And Treasure Is The Ultimate Summer Series, According To One Star

The summer television season is fast-approaching, and with this coming season comes an exciting show from CBS. Promotions for Blood & Treasure tease action, drama, and plenty of hijinks, but is it going to snag the title as the ultimate summer series? CinemaBlend spoke to one of the stars, former Sleepy Hollow actress Katia Winter, about what makes the show so magical, and she agreed it's a series to watch this summer that all ages can enjoy. She said this:
I think so. I think this is kind of a family show... [T]here's not a lot of violence and blood and no nudity and it's good for children and I think it's good for both men and women. So it's kind of a family friendly show and it's fun and it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's got a lot of humor in it, but it's an adventure show. So I think that applies. Yeah, I think that's why it feels a lot like a summer show.
Katia Winter told CinemaBlend that Blood & Treasure is a family affair, even if the action may look a little intense. Winter plays Gwen Karlsson in the CBS action drama, an Interpol agent drawn into the adventure in her pursuit of antiques art dealer Danny McNamara (Matt Barr) and notorious art thief Lexi Vaziri (Sofia Pernas). They'll be up against international terrorists, and a mystery that spans the course of a millennia that could have massive ramifications for the world.
If there's a similar show on television this summer with these kinds of stakes, adventure, and diverse locales, Katia Winter doesn't know of it. When asked if she could think of a similar story audiences could compare it to, she went to a cinema classic that she thinks Blood & Treasure measures up to quite well:
I think it's kind of emotional, like Indiana Jones, you know, in terms of the score I think as well. I sat in a session one day...and the music is very old school with the strings and it has that little bit of Indiana Jones side.
As someone who's seen the two-hour premiere, I can confirm there are some comparisons to be drawn between the two franchises, especially in reference to their emphasis on history and bad guys wanting to obtain things that "belong in a museum." Thankfully, Katia Winter's Gwen is there to help Danny and Lexi stop the bad guys, provided their methods are on the level with the law. This isn't always the case, however, which presents some tension between Gwen and the two leads very quickly.
