The Stand TV Series Starts Production: Amber Heard Reveals 'The End'

Amber Heard London Fields

Hollywood has gone silly with adapting the works of Stephen King, and it's hard to remember the last time there's been a period when at least 2-3 of his works weren't in development. On that note, yet another one is ready for filming as CBS All Access has kicked off the production on its adaptation of The Stand.

The news was delivered by one of the many stars involved in the series, Amber Heard, and she shared a specific script that should have some King fans excited. Apparently, we should all get ready for "The End" because that's coming whether we like it or not.

It's not footage, but the mere sight of a script and the start of production should be enough to get folks excited. After all, this is the adaptation of one of Stephen King's most revered works, and it seems like CBS All Access is doing all it can to get it right. So far they've got a stellar cast that includes Amber Heard, Alexander Skarsgard, James Marsden and others, so it's on the right track.

With that being said, the original 1994 miniseries has a solid amount of praise and acclaim on top of its solid cast. The new version of The Stand will have that to measure up to as it continues production on its new adaptation. Will it be able to differentiate itself enough from the first go around, or will it prove to be too similar and audiences wonder why it was made?

We don't have a crystal ball, although it is worth noting the newest version of The Stand will bring something new to book lovers and miniseries fans alike. Stephen King is writing a new coda that will appear in the CBS All Access show, that will continue the story beyond that of the books. Without getting too deep into spoilers, the new bit of story will answer some questions from the story that were left unanswered in the past.

One other big thing CBS All Access' The Stand has going for it is that it has cast an actor from a family that has become synonymous with King adaptations, Alexander Skarsgard. Skarsgard will be playing iconic character Randall Flagg, who has appeared in a number of King's novels throughout his career. Alexander's brother Bill Skarsgard is known for playing Pennywise the clown in the successful new IT movies, and he starred in the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock. Just wait, eventually the Skarsgards will play every Stephen King character together on Castle Rock.
