Legends Of Tomorrow Is Losing Matt Ryan's Constantine Before Season 7, But There's Good News
DC's Legends of Tomorrow has shed a lot of talent over the years, to the point that fans may have become accustomed to the revolving door of characters that come in and out of the series. Once again, fans will have to mourn the loss of another character as it's time for yet another person to move on, but this situation is a bit better than past ones. John Constantine will exit The CW series after Season 6, but Matt Ryan will stick around in an entirely new role in Season 7.
The news was revealed during the panel for Legends of Tomorrow at SDCC@Home, and viewers learned that while John Constantine will leave the Legends behind and go solo once more, Matt Ryan will stay on in Season 7 as Dr. Gwyn Davies. Davies is a scientist from the 20th century that the Legends must rely on, which seems to indicate Ryan will play a central role in the adventure. The actor spoke a bit about leaving the role of Constantine, as well as stepping into the shoes of a new character for Season 7:
The Legends of Tomorrow panel did not specify exactly how John Constantine will exit the series, but one would assume his character will be kept in one piece to potentially re-appear in future adventures in the Arrowverse. This seems especially possible since Matt Ryan is sticking with the show as a new character. So thankfully for us, Constantine isn't technically that far away should the writers want to find a way to bring him back.
One other more minor character update is that Amy Louise Pemberton will join Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular. Fans have heard Pemberton as Gideon for a few seasons and have seen her appear in the flesh a couple of times. Having a live-action Pemberton around on a regular basis in Season 7 should bring more excitement to to the new season, in spite of John Constantine's absence.
Beyond casting changes, Legends of Tomorrow also announced DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Mixtape (Songs from the Original Television Soundtrack), which will feature some of the biggest songs of the show. In total, fans can expect 21 tracks that feature classics like "Puppets Of Tomorrow" and "Space Girl." The mixtape is set to drop on all major music locations Friday, August 20th.
Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. It's one of the many great shows airing in the coming months, so be sure to check out what all is on tap with our handy fall premiere guide.
