One Tree Hill’s popular athlete, lover, and brother, Lucas, quit the CW show in 2009 (later appearing in the last season to help bring closure to the program at the end of its run). In the time since, he’s done some film work as well as some TV movies, but has not chosen any serious television roles. However, Murray has now signed on to join another CW alum on TNT’s Southland for a few episodes in Season 5.

The OC’s Ben McKenzie has been working hard on Southland since the series’ inception, and his character even bumped up from a rookie rank to a Police Officer II rank last season. TV Line is reporting that McKenzie’s Officer Sherman may encounter some troubling times after spending time outside of work with Murray’s character, Dave Mendoza, on the TNT drama.

Murray will be joining Southland’s Season 5 cast for multiple episodes. His character, Mendoza, is being described as an amiable cop who also has a hot streak. While that first personality trait sounds fun, the second sounds like it could get the character into hot water, and I worry Mendoza might take Sherman down with him. Come hell or high water, at least they’ll both look smoking in those uniforms. We still have a while to wait to determine what will go on plot-wise, because Southland doesn’t return to TNT’s schedule until well after the holidays.

Season 5 of Southland will premiere Wednesday, February 13 at 10 p.m. ET.
