Cold Case Star Cashes In

Kathryn Morris may not have a whole lot of name recognition, but that’s not stopping her from bringing in the bucks for CBS—and they’re rewarding her accordingly. Morris is the star of Cold Case, which is one of those shows like Two and a Half Men that gets good ratings despite the fact that no one you know watches it.

According to Zap2it, in addition to making a reported $180,000-$190,000 per episode, Morris was also given a production deal at Warner Brothers TV, who co-produces Case. Not bad for a woman whose previous credits include a small role in Minority Report and a cut part in the James Gandolfini vehicle, The Last Castle. But then again, William Petersen was probably best known for the 1986 Silence of the Lambs prequel, Manhunter, when he received a similar deal that made him a co-executive producer at CSI.

Cold Case, a procedural in which Morris plays Philadelphia detective Lilly Rush, averages about 14 million viewers a week. To put that in perspective, the recently canceled but dearly beloved Veronica Mars only managed to net about 2.5 million viewers per week; so it comes as no surprise that CBS would want to throw some cash around to make sure its star stays happy.

You can see if Ms. Morris is earning her money when Cold Case’s fifth season premieres on Sunday, September 23.

The series will also be syndicated on TNT starting this fall.
