Cult Full Series Premiere Episode: Watch It Early Here
Joining Fox's The Following in being a series about a creepy cult-like following is The CW's Cult, which differentiates itself from the Kevin Bacon-starring Fox thriller with its focus on a show within a show. The series isn't set to premiere until next Tuesday night, but The CW has made the first episode available to watch online. Check it out ahead.
Cult isn't just a TV show. It's a TV show about a TV show and some obsessed fans who may be taking their love for the series too far. A mystery is about to unravel, and it starts with the episode below, which comes courtesy of Hulu and can also be viewed at The CW's website.
"Well, hey. These things just snap right off."
Creepy.
The series stars Matt Davis as Jeff Sefton, an investigative journalist who doesn't usually take his brother's conspiracy theories and obsessions seriously. But when Nate goes missing, Jeff begins to look into his brother's theories on the conspiracy behind the popular TV series Cult, a TV show about a creepy cult leader named Billy Grimm and the LAPD detective who's been following him, which has some particularly rabid fans who communicate online.
As easy as it is to get caught up in some TV shows, I can see how someone would come up with a TV show that follows an obsessive fandom. With that said, I sort of wish they's given the series and the series within a series different names, for clarity's sake. But that's a technicality and probably a minor issue. The big question is whether or not the mystery will hold up and whether viewers will tune in to watch.
What did you think of the first episode? Will you watch more?
