Defiance Trailer Shows The State Of Civilization On An Alien Inhabited Planet

If you were watching Syfy last night, you may have caught the premiere of the promising new time travel drama Continuum. Joining the Canadian import among Syfy's new science fiction offerings later this year is Defiance and original series (paired with a video game) that focusses on man's attempt to co-exist with various alien races on a transformed earth. The latest trailer, which you might have seen if you were watching Syfy last night, has arrived and gives us a look at the state of civilization, which isn't especially great.

Defiance coms from Kevin Murphy, Michael Taylor and Rockne O'Bannon and is set in the near future after Earth has been invaded by seven alien races. The focus of the series is in the newly formed civilization of humans and aliens, which is where this trailer comes in as it gives us a look at how people and the inhabitants of the planet are getting along.

As you may have noticed, there are some familiar faces among this cast, which includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner. The trailer seems to emphasize the discord among the people, with glimpses of alien faces, guns being pointed and Julie Benz talking about working out their differences. With so many different alien races trying to live together, getting along may prove to be a challenge. But therein lies the drama, right?

Defiance premieres Monday, April 15 at 9/8c on Syfy.

Assistant Managing Editor

Kelly put her life-long love of movies, TV and books to greater use when she joined CinemaBlend as a freelance TV news writer in 2006, and went on to serve as the site’s TV Editor before joining the staff full-time in 2011 and moving over to other roles at the site. At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way). She graduated from SUNY Cortland with BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Cinema Studies. When she isn't working, she's probably thinking about work, or reading (or listening to a book), and making sure her cats are living their absolute best feline lives.
