Emilia Clarke Will Guest Star In Futurama's Penultimate Episode

Futurama may be ending its run fairly soon, but the series will at least be going out with one big guest star. Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke has signed on to appear in an episode of Futurama’s final Season 7B episodes as a potential love interest for the always-smelly Zoidberg—and it may be a match made in 31st Century heaven.

Clarke has signed on to play a flower stand owner who has no sense of smell. She’ll embark upon a potential romance with Dr. Zoidberg during an upcoming episode of the series, but there will be problems in their relationship. Executive Producer David X. Cohen told EW that Zoidberg will actually have the skill set to fix her smelling problems. Normally this would be great, but since Zoidberg is a smelly individual, if her olfactory senses are fixed, she may not be able to pursue a romance with the good doctor.

Clarke’s episode will be the penultimate episode of the season, which will air this summer. Late last month, Comedy Central unfortunately cancelled the series due to declining ratings. The show has had a fairly rocky history, running on multiple networks and in various formats during different periods of time. The cancellation is not as much of as a surprise as it is a disappointment, but at least Comedy Central is letting the show finish out its seventh season. The first half of Season 7 has already aired, and the final installment of episodes will hit the schedule on June 19 at 10 p.m. ET. The series finale is scheduled for September 4.

Until Futurama’s big return, you can catch Emilia Clarke in episodes of Game of Thrones, airing Sundays on HBO at 8 p.m. ET.
