First Look At Lash In Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been teasing new challenges for the team for a few months now, including a brand new Inhuman, Lash. We’ve known for a while that football player-turned-actor Matt Willig has signed on in the role, but this weekend S.H.I.E.L.D. finally released the first look at Season 3, giving us our first glimpse at how the Inhuman will look on the show for the first time.
The first look at Lash features the character in the shadows, which is similar to how the CW’s The Flash teased Gorilla Grodd before that villain ultimately made his big debut on the show. Still, we get a chance to see a large man with spikes coming out of his body. The image appeared in the first TV promo for Season 3. Unfortunately, the look is fleeting and doesn’t explain much about the character or his motivations.
Lash was first announced at Comic-Con in San Diego this year, but even though we have known the character will appear for a while, we still don’t know much about his objectives. In fact, ABC’s show has even stated the character’s loyalties remain ambiguous, and we haven’t seen enough from the character to even get hints about what his function will be on the show. However, Lash is a Marvel character from the comics that is able to harness and convert energy and who goes on a mission to limit the number of Inhumans in the world, acting as judge, jury and executioner if he doesn’t feel the Inhumans he finds are capable individuals. Sounds a bit like a baddie. Unfortunately, we don’t get a ton of concrete information from the promo, which can be seen in full, below.
What I do like about the first look at Lash is that the character seems to look pretty similar to the actual comic rendition of the character, who is pretty badass-looking.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been gearing up for Season 3 for a while, adding a new government agent, a nemesis for Coulsen and more. We’ll be able to find out how all of this comes together when ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to the schedule on Tuesday, September 29 at 9 p.m. ET.
