GCB's Annie Potts Joins Murder In Manhattan Pilot

Annie Potts is a busy lady this pilot season. The former GCB actress signed on for a USA comedy pilot called Paging Dr. Freed earlier this season and now she’s joining ABC’s pilot Murder in Manhattan. In the latter and newest of the two, she’ll star opposite Bridget Regan.

Murder in Manhattan takes a look at a team of sleuths who decide to solve crimes in New York City. The team of sleuths won’t be your average duo, however. Instead, the team will be a mother-daughter crime solving pair, with Potts signed on to play the mother, Blythe, and Regan added to the cast as the daughter, Lex. Blythe is described as a woman with high end tastes but an affable personality. Ryan Reynolds is executive producing the dramedy.

According to Deadline, the USA pilot will come first for the actress, but if Paging Dr. Freed falls through, she’ll be home free to head back to ABC. The move is maybe a little surprising, considering Potts acted in GCB also on the network last season and we all know how that turned out. Perhaps the actress doesn’t harbor a grudge over last season’s cancellation and/ or perhaps signing on with Reynolds was too good to pass up.

Murder in Manhattan was one of several pilots greenlighted by the network at the end of January. We’ll let you know if the dramedy makes it to series over at ABC.
