Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins Tim Kring's Touch Pilot

Tim Kring, the main force behind Heroes, has added another familiar “agent” to his Touch lineup. The most recent addition to Touch is Gugu Mbatha-Raw, a British actress probably best known for her recent role as reactivated CIA personnel Samantha Bloom in J.J Abram’s Undercovers.

With Undercovers canceled, Mbatha-Raw’s schedule is wide open, and she is set to join former 24 actor Kiefer Sutherland and Lethal Weapon Star Danny Glover for Kring’s pilot, about a father (Sutherland) who learns his mute and autistic son can predict the future.

According to THR, Sutherland’s schedule is not as wide open as Mbatha-Raws, and production has been stalled as Sutherland finishes a Broadway run. As soon Broadway’s revival of That Champion Season is finished, Touch will get moving and should be a strong contender among midseason releases. We shouldn't get our hopes too high. Heroes’ super power premise started out strong, but had capped by the end of season one. Even if Kring’s Touch does extremely well, it’s still got a long way to go before it is cemented as a sure thing.

Although, to be fair, we should probably give Touch a chance to go into production before we burden it with “What Ifs.”
