Memphis Beat Won't Return For Season 3

Charlie’s Angels isn’t the only series cut loose by their network today. Drama series Memphis Beat, which starred Jason Lee, has also been cancelled. The series finished airing its second season back in August and TNT has chosen not to renew it.

Memphis Beat starred Le as Dwight Hendricks, a police detective who works for the Memphis police department and loves the city of Memphis and blues music. The cast also included Alfre Woodard, Sam Hennings, DJ Qualls and Celia Weston. According to Deadline, TNT opted not to renew the series for Season 3. “The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best,” a TNT spokesperson said.

Memphis Beat joins Men of a Certain Age and HawthoRNe on TNT’s recently-cancelled list. While this is certainly disappointing news for fans of Memphis Beat, I’m interested in hearing what Jason Lee does next on the small screen. As for his movie roles, IMDB has him credited for a number of big screen projects, including the next installment of Alvin and the Chipmunks (Chip-Wrecked). In the meantime, we can also look forward to seeing him when he guest-stars on NBC's Up All Night.
