With Entourage wrapping up, we’ve known for a while series showrunner Doug Ellin had another pilot up his sleeve. In March, Ellin announced his new pilot would be called 40, aptly named because it would focus on a group of friends aged 40 who were in different positions in their personal and professional lives. At that time, Ed Burns was announced as the star helming the program, but since then any word on casting information has been kept under wraps.
Now, Michael Rapaport has been tapped to be one of the friends in the 40 group. According to Deadline, while Burns will play a once-successful man who has been out of work for a year, Rapaport will play a married everyman who leans on the neurotic side. If I had to bet my money, I’d guess Rapaport’s character does alright financially doing something weird, but is very frugal. Whether or not my prediction is right, the pay-cable-bound program is finally coming together, and looking pretty interesting.
40's premise seems like it might come to grips with more everyday issues than Ellin’s other programming. However, with Ed Burns and Michael Rapaport on for the show, it’s looking like a hell of a good time. I don’t know about you, but if my world at 40 featured the yummy male from Saving Private Ryan and the awesome dude from Boston Public, I’d be sittin’ pretty.
