Revenge Pilot Director Phillip Noyce Set To Helm ABC Pilot Americana

ABC had a few promising pilots going into the 2011-2012 season, among which was Mike Kelley’s deliciously soapy Revenge, which has since gone on to receive a full first season order (and will hopefully be picked up for a second season.) Phillip Noyce is credited for helming the pilot for the series as well as the second episode. Word is, the Australian director is moving on to lend his talents to another ABC pilot in the works.

Late last month, Deadline reported that ABC put an order in for a pilot from ABC Studios and Mark Gordon Co. called Americana. The project, which is being written by Michael Seitzman (who will also executive produce along with Mark Gordon Co’s Nicholas Pepper), centers on a “legendary fashion designer and his family and business.”

According to MovieHole, Phillip Noyce has been tapped to direct the pilot. In addition to directing Salt, Noyce’s small screen credits include Brotherhood and the pilot episode for Tru Calling. And as mentioned previously, he directed the pilot or Revenge, which proved to be a successful endeavor. Perhaps his contribution to Americana as director will give the series whatever it needs to edge out the competition presented by the other pilots.
