Steve Harvey Renewed For Two Additional Seasons
Just a few TV seasons ago, the daytime realm seemed to be opening up, with the likes of Bethenny Frankel, Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Steve Harvey and more finding room on the daytime schedule. Some of these programs haven’t been so successful, including Anderson Cooper’s Anderson Live!, which will not be returning for a third season. Other shows, like Steve Harvey, have found an audience niche and on Wednesday NBC has opted to show its support for the talk program by picking up the already-renewed program for an additional two seasons.
Back in January, NBC Stations renewed the program for a second season after the show won a People’s Choice Award for best new talk show host. At the time, the show lagged behind Katie Couric’s Katie, but Steve Harvey actually saw a victory over the veteran talk show host and journalist in May. According to Deadline, the May sweeps saw Steve Harvey beat Katie in the ratings regarding women 18-49 and women 25-54.
The ratings gains and the People’s Choice Awards were enough to give NBC Stations the confidence to go ahead and renew Steve Harvey for not only the promised second season, but for a couple of extra seasons, as well. So, fans of Harvey’s over-the-top personality will be happy to note that new episodes will keep on coming through 2016. That’s a much better fate than many daytime talk shows are getting and at least will get to see whether or not Harvey finds continued success into the future.
If you haven’t caught Steve Harvey, here’s an idea of what you are missing.
