The Strain Teaser Gives Us An Eyeful Of Eclipse
If you're one of those people who gets creeped out over the close-up sight of something burrowing itself into an eye, you probably want to skip the above teaser for FX's The Strain... and the Gif we've included below, come to think of it. The creepy "Pupil" teaser runs just ten second long and still manages make us shudder.
Let's see that in an instant replay...
I like that the pupil of the eye looks like an eclipse, which may be fitting to this vampire-virus story. In fact, one of the previous teasers focused on an eclipse happening over New York City...
Created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their book series by the same name, The Strain stars Corey Stoll as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York. He and his team are called upon to investigate a strange outbreak "with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism." The story has Eph and his team, along with a bunch of New Yorkers, trying to get to the bottom of the situation as the strain begins to spread. Carlton Cuse will serve as the series' showrunner. In addition to Stoll, the cast includes David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Mia Maestro, Jonathan Hyde, Sean Astin and Francis Capra, among others.
FX has a July premiere planned for the 13-episode series, so we still have a while to wait for this one, but it's exciting to see them promoting the thrilling sounding drama already. While we've yet to see much from the series, the network did release this viral-ish video, in addition to the above teasers, which indicates that something's going on in New York...
And we've also seen a couple of images from the series, including this one...
