TV Recap: My Boys - Opportunity Knocks

Can I just say, I love My Boys. Seriously, I converted all of my friends to My Boys devotees and any of you who aren’t watching need to. Now. The past few episodes have really gotten back to the sharp, witty, real show that first got me hooked. So, since that’s out of the way, let’s get to it.

PJ is still helping poor little Bobby with his wedding plans. The guy is so frazzled I think his hair is standing up three inches higher than normal. Over the seating chart, PJ oh-so-casually mentions that she had a good time with Jack, Bobby’s too cute older brother, at his bachelor party and Bobby oh-so-casually mentions that Jack is kind of a player. So there are a few red flags with PJ’s possible new romance but then Jack sends flowers and we all like him again, kind of. Stephanie advises PJ to play it cool and not see him until the wedding. She also tells PJ let Bobby know about this little could be love. At least the first part happens.

PJ does play it cool until Jack asks her to let him fly her to New York to watch a Yankees/Red Sox game in his luxury box. Around now is when Stephanie’s inner guru changes its mind, too. I love Stephanie. So, PJ is set to say yes when Bobby, once again, mentions that the question mark on the seating chart next to Jack is for whatever girl he picks up and flies in on his private jet. Apparently this whole shtick is just that, a shtick. Or, could it be that Bobby knows that Jack is really into PJ but he isn’t too keen on the whole thing. Especially since PJ just confessed her feelings for him at the bachelor party. Maybe there was a little something from Bobby’s side, too. Hmmm…

So while PJ is trying to figure out her relationship, Andy and Meredith are going to couples’ counseling to figure out theirs. Only they choose to go to a therapist played by the hilarious Martin Mull. I think we all learned more about him than we did about Andy and Meredith since all he did during each of his sessions was talk about himself. Maybe he’s a secret genius, though, because Andy and Meredith finally reconnected and it ended in a very high school car make-out session. I hope this keeps going because mean Andy was just plain sucky.

Sucky, depressing Mike seems to be gone, too. He came back in full force at the end of the episode and he didn’t even need Dr. Brando’s help. Dr. Brendo, by the way, could stand to help regular old Brendo because he was seriously stalking Bobby’s friend, John, about the possible job situation. I have faith in the Brendo, though, so it’ll be okay. I do have a tiny inkling that all the strange occurrences, including Kenny’s new big man status, are about to end. Kenny decided not to take anyone to the wedding and is now dateless. His RSVP, by the way, ended up in the hands of the guy who delivered the flowers from Jack so I, personally, don’t think he’ll even be able to go to the wedding. Just speculation for now.

So the boys and PJ are on their way up and I can’t wait till next Thursday. Really, can’t we just fast-forward to then?
