The Walking Dead's Bear McCreary To Compose Music For Starz' Da Vinci's Demons

Starz just gave us one more reason to look forward to their new original series Da Vinci's Demons. Added to the interesting premise and the promising cast is now the enormous talent of composer Bear McCreary, who has scored The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica and other shows with really good music.
Created by David S. Goyer, Da Vinci's Demons stars Tom Riley as Leonardo Da Vinci and tells the story of the legendary thinker during his youth in Renaissance Florence. The new eight-episode historical fantasy will explore Da Vinci's untold story and work as an inventor, artist, idealist, lover and dreamer.
Starz announced today that Bear McCreary will be serving as the musical composer for the series. If you're familiar with McCreary's work then it's likely that you already know that this is really great news for Da Vinci's Demons. In addition to BSG and The Walking Dead, his credits include Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Eureka, Caprica and The Cape. For those who have never heard his scores or didn't notice them, here's his "Mercy of the Living" song from The Walking Dead.
And here's one of his songs from the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack.
Very different sounds for two excellent showsl. McCreary's contributions to both series is noteworthy and I think it's fair to say that his music is part of the greatness of both series, particularly in the way McCreary's scores help set the tone for certain scenes. Perhaps the same will be said for Da Vinci's Demons. It will certainly be interesting to hear the score for the series.
This news comes a week after the exciting new teaser trailer arrived, giving us a look at the series, which premieres on Starz next Spring.
