Call Of Duty: Black Ops II Soundtrack To Release Alongside The Game
It’s no secret that video games are massive productions, garnering the same funding, resources and caliber of talent you would expect out of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters. This AAA treatment usually stems to all areas of the industry’s biggest titles, including the all-important soundtrack. Therefore, it’s no surprise that musical hotshot Trent REznor and legendary video game composer Jack Wall worked on the Call of Duty: Black Ops II soundtrack, which will be releasing day and date with the game itself.
According to a statement from Activision and Treyarch, the Black Ops II soundtrack will feature a “brooding theme” by Trent Rezner and a “masterfully written score” by Jack Wall that “delivers on the emotional intensity of the game.” The folks behind the game are promising a soundtrack influenced by the game’s globe-trotting storyline, which should help immerse players into the BLOPS II world while pumping all of those bullets into a never-ending stream of terrorist meat-puppets.
“The story surrounding the single player campaign was of paramount importance to the developers at Treyarch,” said composer Jack Wall. “I wanted to do my part to give that story as much emotional depth as I could with the music. I think the fans will really appreciate how deep the story is in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.”
The soundtrack, featuring more than 40 tracks, will be available alongside the game when it releases on Nov. 13. It will be available for $11.99 on iTunes and “select digital marketplaces.” If you happen to be getting the Hardened Edition or Care Package Collector’s Edition, however, your copy of the soundtrack will be included at no additional charge.
