EverQuest Next Landmark's alpha test is almost here but will your computer be able to run it? Sony Online Entertainment has published the system requirements that you'll need for the sandbox MMO's first public testing.

Minimum System Requirements

  • Processor Intel i5 Dual Core or higher / AMD Phenom X3 or higher
  • Memory 4GB RAM
  • Hard Drive 20GB Free
  • Video Memory 1,024 MB RAM
  • Video Card nVidia GeForce GTX 275 series or higher / AMD HD 4890 or higher
  • Sound Card DirectX compatible
  • Internet Broadband (10Mbit/sec or higher)
Recommended System Requirements
  • OS Windows 7 64 bit
  • Processor Intel i5 Quad Core or higher / AMD Phenom II X6 or higher
  • Memory 8GB RAM
  • Hard Drive 20GB Free
  • Video Memory 1,024 MB RAM
  • Video Card nVidia GeForce GTX 560 series or higher / AMD HD 6870 or higher
  • Sound Card DirectX compatible
  • Internet Broadband (10Mbit/sec or higher)
SOE says that these system requirements will change as over time, though. They'll be altering EQ Next Landmark throughout the alpha and beta and optimizing the game for a wider range of systems. Even now, though, the system requirements seem fairly lax. That's to be expected with any MMO, though; the developers want to be able to pull in as many players as possible.

In EverQuest Next Landmark, players gather materials from the game world and use them to construct items and buildings. They can then sell crafted items to each other through an in-game marketplace. Some of the best creations will be used in EverQuest Next, a next-gen MMORPG with destructible environments. EQ Next, powered by the same Forgelight engine as PlanetSide 2, should arrive later in 2014.

Last we heard, the alpha test was going to launch in February. You can secure access to the alpha (and eventual closed beta) by purchasing a Founder's Pack. If you already bought one but just realized that the system requirements are too high for your computer, SOE says that you can get a full refund. Additional details can be found at their customer support site.
