Spec Ops: The Line Coming To Xbox 360, PS3 In Late 2010?

published: 2009-12-14 10:52:04
2K Games sent out an official press release for Spec Ops: The Line, following the hard-hitting debut trailer from the VGA's on Spike. The press release clearly indicates that this third-person shooter is planned for release in 2K’s first quarter of 2011, which happens to begin on November 1st, 2010.

This could mean that the game might become available on gaming’s ubiquitous pre-holiday release date of November 17th, or what’s more likely to happen is that the game will be delayed into the beginning of January, the following year.

Anyway, Timo Ullman, managing director at YAGER (the developers of the game), commented in the press release, saying…
"The production of Spec Ops: The Line has been a tremendous experience for YAGER," ... "Our close collaboration with 2K Games over the course of this production has allowed us to achieve our goal of giving players a unique and exciting gaming experience in Spec Ops: The Line. YAGER's goal is to always push the boundaries of what is possible and exceed players' expectations in every production."

The game sees players in charge of Captain Martin Walker, as his team is sent into the sandstorm-ridden Dubai, once the home of the gentry and now half-covered in tons of sand. The objective of Walker (or the player) is to find and bring home .S. Army Colonel John Konrad and his loyal squad who lost contact with the base during one of the horrendous sandstorms.

I like the idea that the game will use those same sandstorms as a random wrench in the combat, giving players an extra and unforeseen challenge they must face while traversing the desolate and ruined Dubai.
