Wolfenstein: The New Order, a brand-new Wolfenstein shooter published by Bethesda, depicts an alternate history in which the Nazis won World War II. New screenshots show what a Nazi-controlled world would look like.

The Third Reich has established control over the globe by the time of the game (1960) but they're not resting on their laurels. Instead, they're continuing to develop new weapons. Their foot soldiers are now clad in full body armor. What's more, they're backed up by an entire army of robots.

Wolfenstein's at its best when it goes full-out crazy, though. The robots pale in comparison to the moon base hinted at in a single screenshot. Guess the developers watched Iron Sky.

Players will control B.J. Blazkowicz, the American secret agent who starred in previous games. Once again it falls to him to save the world. Bethesda says that he'll be able to turn the Nazi's war machines against them. Expect to get your hands on all sorts of experimental gadgets.

New Order is in development at MachineGames. They're planning to release the game this fall on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and next-gen consoles.
