The [Rec] series is the definitive zombie horror staple that fans of the frightening and grotesque have been seeking for years. 28 Days Later is the only zombie movie from the last 20 years that even comes close to the inventiveness and sheer unease of both [Rec] films.
A new trailer for the second in the series has popped up over on Youtube and it's scary. Like, really scary. This sequel, which takes place immediately after the original, follows a groups of SWAT team members into the Barcelona apartment complex where the zombie outbreak has been contained. Just like its predecessor, the whole movie is captured using either handheld or helmet mounted cameras putting you right in the thick of the action from start to finish. I don't suggest watching this alone.
[Rec] 2 is available through VOD and will be getting a short theatrical run starting July 9. Be sure to check out both films.
