Avengers: Infinity War May Include A Second Very Important Villain Beyond Thanos

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has spent the last eight years or so building up to the epic event known as The Avengers: Infinity War, which will feature most if not all of the established heroes in the big screen superhero world trying to defeat the powerful purple alien known as Thanos. Considering that this villain will possess a weapon that will essentially give him god-like powers, you'd think this would be enough opposition for the protagonists in the story, but if a new rumor is to be believed then the Mad Titan may not be the only terrifying force in the two-part blockbuster. He may be joined by the Marvel Comics villain known as The Magus as well.

This should most definitely be taken with a huge grain of salt, as it's the site Acting-Auditions.org that has suggested that The Magus will be one of the villains in at least The Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1. The site doesn't mention a source, but says that that The Magus will not appear in the movie, but will "assemble" the Infinity Gauntlet and create "doppelgangers of Earth's heroes as part of his plan to recreate a universe of evil."

In the comics, The Magus is actually closely related to the character Adam Warlock - in that he is actually an older, evil version of the comic book hero who comes from the future to try and corrupt his former self and ensure his own creation. The character does have past ties to the Infinity Gauntlet, though the plan to make evil clones of Marvel's greatest heroes seems to be a new idea. Instead, there is a story where Adam Warlock tried to use the powerful glove to try and rid good and evil from his soul, and created The Magus as a result of this. While the evil version of Adam Warlock attempts to get the Infinity Gauntlet for himself, he instead winds up being trapped inside the Soul Gem, one of the most powerful Infinity Gems/Stones.

This is really the first time that we've heard the suggestion that The Magus could have a role to play in The Avengers: Infinity War, but conversations about Adam Warlock have been going on for a while now. This is because the version of the character from the comics has famously long been the owner of the aforementioned Soul Stone - keeping it stored in his forehead - and fans have suggested the Marvel Cinematic Universe could adapt this element on the big screen in order to introduce the very important, powerful ingot. That being said, the MCU featuring the character (and The Magus by extension) might be difficult, given that The Avengers: Age of Ultron put the Mind Stone in the forehead of Paul Bettany's The Vision, which some fans have interpreted as a way for Marvel Studios to circumnavigate the Adam Warlock story on the path to the Infinity War.

What do you make of this new rumor? Do you think that The Magus could find his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Do you like the suggested plot for him to have in The Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1? Hit the comments with your thoughts.
