Tonight I caught a preview for The Tooth Fairy, the movie in which Dwayne Johnson plays a tough hockey player turned into the mythical giver of money. So forgive me for not quite being able to take seriously the concept of Faster, an "action drama" starring Johnson as an ex-con who must avenge his brother's murder.

George Tillman Jr., who most recently made the biopic Notorious, is planning to direct, according to Variety. He's replacing Phil Joanou, who directed Johnson in Gridiron Gang. It's probably high time that Johnson makes something other than a family friendly comedy, but that doesn't necessarily mean I have to buy into it. Let's get past Tooth Fairy first, and then consider whether this concept is actually feasible.
