It’s been a decade since The English Patient hit theaters, won the Best Picture Oscar, and inspired Seinfeld’s Elaine to scream in frustration, “Die already!”. By now, the film has become a distant memory for nearly everyone, except for Producer Saul Zaentz. He filed a $20 million lawsuit on Thursday, accusing Miramax of withholding project shares from the film.

Why is this only coming up now? One could argue that it’s because Zaentz hasn’t produced any films since The English Patient, except for the upcoming Goya’s Ghosts nearly ten years later. The suit claims: "Like Enron, Tyco and WorldCom, Miramax has used fraudulent and unfair accounting and business practices to deprive (Saul Zaentz Co.) of its profit participation."

Zaentz, who partially financed the movie, claims that Miramax is trying to hide their official earnings by using unethical accounting practices. People in Hollywood seem to spend more time suing one another than actually making movies. Can’t we all just get along? Not when money is involved, clearly.
