Star Wars Episode 7 Just Got Way More Badass With This Casting

J.J, Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens is already set up to be pretty amazing, but this new casting announcement has added a special dose of awesomeness to the film. News has arrived saying that Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, and Cecep Arif Rahman - the stars of the film Raid 2 - have been cast in Episode VII. It looks like Uwais, Ruhian, and Rahman will be bringing some intense martial arts skill to a galaxy far, far away.

This news comes to us from Twitch, but as with most of the individuals involved with this film (with the exception of the original trilogy character and those few who have been identified), we don’t know who the trio will be portraying, or if they will be on the Dark Side or the Light Side of the Force. However, The Wrap does report that one of the three is expected to die on screen. We will just have to wait and see if they are playing for Team Sith or Team Jedi. I’m anxious to see what amazing fight scenes that will come from their involvement on the film. Though the new Star Wars films haven’t really had any radically epic human actor-centric fight scenes since the Qui Gon Jinn, Obi Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul fight in The Phantom Menace, the Star Wars franchise knows how to make memorable fight scenes. I can’t wait to see what they will be able to create with the help of three highly talented martial artists.

Interestingly enough, this is not the first time that the team behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens has consulted with the talented stunt team from Raid 2. As The Wrap reports, there was another member of the action film's stunt team that took part in a top secret shoot for Episode VII. Though there is no word on the identity of the performer, or what specifically they were doing for Abrams' Star Wars film, it sounds like they are really beefing up the film’s stunt talent.

Though Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one of the most anticipated films of 2015, there still remains a huge lack of knowledge about the film. There have certainly been several information leaks, and lots of speculative information about the film, but the amount of official, Disney, Lucasfilm and Abrams-approved info has been significantly lacking. With the premiere of Star Wars :The Force Awakens inching closer everyday, and principal photography wrapping in November 2014, we will hopefully get some answers about the movie's plot and who various actors will be portraying in The Force Awakens soon.

And we may get them before we know it. J.J. Abrams has been keeping a pretty tight lid on any information about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he has also tried to let the fans in on tiny bits of the movie making process via Tweets, videos, and even up-close-and-personal looks in Forbes Magazine at The Millennium Falcon. Still, I’m chomping at the bit to get some big info on the film, like a complete character list or an official plot. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
