Explosive Transformers Set Video Shows Exactly How Michael Bay Films His Bayhem, And It's Crazy

Say what you will about the Transformers movie series, it knows how to throw in a lot of action, and Transformers: The Last Knight won't be any exception. Director Michael Bay has been posting set videos showing just how intense and exciting shooting the fifth installment is, but he just reached peak explosiveness in his latest video, where he showed off the cool camera he's using for one of the key action sequences. Take a look at the insanity!

As principal photography on Transformers: The Last Knight continues in the United Kingdom, Michael Bay posted this video on Instagram of him capturing an especially intense scene using a light green, state-of-the-art RED camera, which they nicknamed "Bayhem" for the director. Get it? Because it's great at capturing mayhem, and his name is...okay, so maybe that didn't need explaining. Calling it the "lightest, most advanced hand held motion picture camera in the world," Bay decided to take this camera for a spin by shooting a moment in the movie when soldiers are shooting at unseen adversaries. At least we can all breathe easy knowing this movie won't lack for guns firing, bodies flying and giant balls of fire erupting, and the RED camera will capture that particular sequence in crisp quality.

Ever since the Transformers movie series kicked off in 2007, moviegoers have gotten used to seeing not just the Autobots and Decepticons beating each other up, but also humans putting up a fight against the latter malevolent force. Michael Bay didn't provide any context about what's happening in this particular scene, but it's a good bet that these soldiers are wrapped in yet another showdown with the Decepticons, and things are not going well for them. Oh sure, they have firepower and a few helicopters on their side, but very few times have those been enough to take down those robotic killers. Let's hope that some Autobots allies will be inserted into that scene during post-production. They've always proven themselves to be excellent backup.

Transformers: The Last Knight is doing its best to keep plot details under wraps, but the latest reports indicate that Arthurian legend into the story, with scenes set during medieval times reportedly having already been shot. There will be plenty of returning robots in disguise (though some of them will be rocking new looks), from Optimus Prime and Bumblebee to Megatron and Barricade. As far as humans go, the fifth adventure will see the return of Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson, while the new faces include Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Liam Garrigan, Santiago Cabrera and Anthony Hopkins.

Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters on June 23, 2017, so stay tuned to Cinema Blend for all the most relevant updates as they come in.
