New Fate Of The Furious Poster Teases A Conflict Between Fan Favorites

It's a big week for fans of The Fast and the Furious franchise. The next installment has been revealed as The Fate of the Furious, and we finally saw glimpses of the first footage. Tonight will serve as an event more exciting event, as the first bonafide trailer is set to air in conjunction with tonight's Sunday Night Football game. Well if the wait for 8pm EST is just too much for you, then you're in luck. Because a new poster for the upcoming sequel has just dropped, and it teases some major problems between two of the franchise's lead characters. Check it out.

It looks like there's some serious trouble in the crew's paradise. If this poster is to be believed, Dom and Hobbs are going to have major beef in the new movie, which will also presumably split the group as a whole.

This new, and pretty damn cool, poster comes to us from the franchise's official Twitter page, serving to promote the trailer dropping this evening. While the trailer will make the film's overall plot and premise much more clear, it now appears that we can expect a fair amount of infighting for the group of alternatively skilled characters. And I'm sure the results are going to be explosive. Literally.

It's also worth noting that the dueling characters seem to have been a case of art imitating life. Vin Diesel and The Rock's feud captured headlines a few months ago, as Dwayne Johnson took to social media to badmouth the male members of the cast.

The Fate of the Furious seems like the latest in a long line of blockbusters which feature heroes kicking each others asses. The DC Extended Universe introduced this with their divisive Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which saw Batman and Superman punching and having general disdain for each other for the majority of the movie. Marvel's Captain America: Civil War followed closely after, as we saw the majority of the MCU's major characters battle each other regarding accountability for their actions and the Sokovia Accords. Now the Fast franchise is doing something similar, although its currently unclear as to how many main characters are going to be involved in Dom and Hobbs' conflict.

One thing we can expect to see in The Fate of the Furious is tons of crazy action. The 14 second teaser showed a few very exciting moments, including the film's historic scenes filmed in Cuba. We also saw an awesome snowmobile battle, tons of explosions, and Michelle Rodriguez's Letty carrying around some heavy firepower.

In addition to revealing the plot of the film, fans of the franchise are going to be expecting a ton of exciting new footage during The Fate of the Furious trailer. We haven't seen any of Helen Mirren's mysterious role, or know much about Charlize Theron's villainous Cipher. And with the team apparently divided, their threats might have the opportunity to finally get a leg up on Dom and company.

The Fate of the Furious will ride into theaters April 14th, 2017.
