Moviegoers that experience Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in IMAX will be in for a special visual treat. Only in IMAX will the entire film be specially formatted and presented in an expanded 1.9:1 aspect ratio. This means that the movie will fill more of the screen, and fans will see 26% more of the image in IMAX than standard theaters.

Co-directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is reportedly going to be a series closer... but also a movie that might set up a new franchise spun out from new characters. Do what now? Well, it all depends on how audiences feel about newcomers Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario, who get prominent poster placement on the IMAX one-sheet. Similar to the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, this sequel uses Johnny Depp and his classic Jack Sparrow character. But from what we are hearing, he's more of an accent to a much bigger story that involves Thwaites and the villainous Captain Salazar, played with menace by the always welcome Javier Bardem.

We still don't know a ton about the plot of this movie, save for the fact that Salazar (Javier Bardem) is seeking two things: The Trident of Poseidon, which will grant any pirate enormous power; and Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who -- at a young age -- wronged Salazar and might have cursed him to the pirate's life. I mean, look at that dude's crackly face. It ain't pretty.

That being said, Sparrow isn't quite in tip top shape in the most recent Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales trailer. Watch the latest, and see what I mean.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales lands the coveted Memorial Day Weekend slot this summer, which gives it some distance from the behemoth that's bound to be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Thought it's going to have to make back some money quickly, as DC and Warner Bros. have Wonder Woman breathing down its neck, hitting theaters on June 2. Are you excited for the next Pirates of the Caribbean? Weigh in with your thoughts down below. And for a full rundown of 2017 Movie Release Dates, hit those words.
