Britney Spears last dropped an album all the way back in 2011 with the full length endeavor Femme Fatale. It’s been a while since we’ve seen new music from the 31-year-old, but rumors that the pop princess is working on her eighth studio album have been popping up for a while. Regardless, with her busy schedule on The X Factor, the chances of hearing news about a new album over the last few months seemed slim. On Sunday, however, Spears confirmed she is avidly working on the album.

In a Twitter group chat with several of her fans, Spears admitted that she is “working hard” on a new album and has also signed on with some new producers for the endeavor. Her three tweets in a row seemed to show excitement about her new album project.
"Working hard. Collaborating with some new inspiring producers. Really focused on my music right now."

According to MTV, Spears has worked with songwriter Elijah Blake (who has written for Rihanna) as well as longtime collaborator Rodney Jerkins on her upcoming endeavor. As rumor would have it, Spears may not be asked to return to the judges panel for Season 3 of The X Factor, which would leave even more open time to hit the studio and crank out new fodder. New music is a bad reason to hope Spears gets fired from her day job, but the little devil on my left shoulder is still secretly rooting for it.

Until then, we will have to stick with the weirdness that is “Scream & Shout.”
