Khloé Kardashian has faced a lot of negativity for her appearance over the years, and she’s been open about being called “the fat sister” and “the ugly sister,” which made her feel pressure to “meet others’ standards.” Perez Hilton admitted she is one celebrity who he used to say “cruel” things about, and that she was “very kind” when he reached out to make amends before his recent mental health crisis.
Perez Hilton was interviewed for Hang Out with Sean Hannity on July 14, just a couple of weeks before he was hospitalized August 4 after reportedly harming himself on a TikTok livestream. Hannity released the interview on August 6, in which the celebrity blogger talked about his regrets and how he’s tried to atone for his past mistakes. Hilton said:
I’ve made amends, or tried to, with a lot of people, reached out to them privately. I mean, I even reached out to Britney Spears. … I reached out to Khloé Kardashian and she responded back, and she was very kind. Some people don’t respond back, and that’s fine.
Khloé Kardashian has been known for being kind, and I find it touching that she was able to give grace to Perez Hilton, despite all the social media scrutiny she’s faced. Per his own comments, we can presume that not all celebs have been as forgiving.
As for Britney Spears, Perez Hilton said he didn’t speak to the former pop star directly, but his apology went over “well,” according to “the intermediary who relayed” what he had written to her.
Sean Hannity questioned Perez Hilton on his past behavior, calling him out for mocking celebrities’ bodies and speculating about people’s sexuality. Asked why he stopped doing that, Hilton said:
I realized what I was doing was wrong. I could still be fun, but I don’t have to be so cheap, and I don't have to be so cruel. It was cruel. It’s something that I carry with me. It’s like my scarlet letter, and it’s very heavy baggage.
The blogger, who was at one point subpoenaed amid Blake Lively’s legal drama, admitted to Sean Hannity that he has regrets and that he thinks his past behavior stemmed from wanting attention. In his words:
I have a lot of regrets. It’s hard to have people really accept this, but if you like attention, attention is like a drug. And I was definitely an attention addict back then. I mean, I still am, but I think I do a better job of keeping it in check. And when you’re an addict, you don’t care if you’re hurting people.
Perez Hilton remains in the hospital following his livestream this week, which stayed on TikTok for 15 minutes, as a moderation error reportedly caused its takedown to be delayed. Many viewers contacted authorities to report the alleged self-harm, and the social media platform has since banned Hilton’s account.
