Anyone who has ever been to Las Vegas knows seeing someone cry in Sin City isn’t exactly unusual. With a very liberal attitude toward hardcore boozing, a ton of emotional twenty-one to twenty-five-year-olds and lots and lots of gambling, you can easily see how emotions often get the better of people. This weekend, Miley Cyrus added her name to that lengthy list of criers, but the circumstances of her outburst were far different than usual.

The starlet was at the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas over the weekend when she took to the stage to perform her hit song “Wrecking Ball” (absent the title and scandalous wrecking ball). The track has long been rumored to be about her now defunct relationship with Liam Hemsworth, and apparently, thinking about that implosion was just too much for her to deal with. She played it off pretty well and maintained a professional demeanor, but by the end of the song, she was clearly overwhelmed.

At first glance, it’s kind of touching to see Miley show a side of herself that’s not contrived sexuality. She’s had little in common with a real human being for months. The world needs to be reminded that she’s just as capable of getting upset about a breakup as anyone else. That being said, it’s a bit weird to see her do it while wearing such a ridiculous outfit, just hours after first showing up to the event in a see-through shirt with pasties on. Surely, her crying has to be one of the most ridiculous things ever to happen on a stage this side of GG Allin.
