Wide Receiver Chad Johnson Accused Of Headbutting Wife

More details are beginning to emerge concerning the domestic incident that led to wide receiver Chad Johnson’s arrest last night, and if true, they are pretty scary and upsetting. The former NFL Pro Bowler, probably best known for (briefly) changing his last name to Ochocinco, reportedly got into an argument with his wife Evelyn Lozada after she found a receipt for condoms. The confrontation quickly escalated until Johnson allegedly headbutted her in the face, causing a three inch laceration.

According to TMZ, Lozada quickly fled out the door and into a neighbor’s home where she allegedly called police. While she was hiding, Johnson reportedly got into his vehicle and searched the neighborhood but was unable to find her. Shortly thereafter, the police arrived, and after interviewing all involved, they hauled Johnson down to the station for domestic assault and didn’t release him until this morning, despite his claims that she was actually the one who headbutted him.

There are few crimes more troubling than domestic violence. Women should have the right to feel safe in their own homes. Clearly, something has gone wrong in the Johnson household. Whether or not the couple will work together to try and fix it or split up is unclear, but regardless, whatever happened last night was horrifying and unacceptable. Something needs to change, and it needs to change immediately.

Pop Blend’s sincerest thoughts go out to all involved in this mess.
