Regis And Kathie Lee Reunited On The Today Show, And It Was Just Like Old Times

Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford were once the most recognizable names in daytime TV thanks to their show Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, which ran from 1988-2000. The duo parted ways when Gifford left Live. Philbin found a new co-host in the form of Kelly Ripa, and Gifford eventually joined the team at NBC's Today Show. We haven't seen too much of Philbin and Gifford together in recent years, but they just reunited during Gifford's segment on Today, and it was like old times. Take a look!

Kathie Lee Gifford usually hosts her hour of Today with Hoda Kotb, but Kotb is currently out on maternity leave. While her absence is undoubtedly a bummer to fans who love to watch the dynamic between Gifford and Kotb, I'd say that Regis Philbin was a great pick to fill in for her in an episode. Philbin and Gifford fell back into their old banter right away, and we even got a sense of their history together when looking at the photos of Philbin's grandkids. They've both gone through a great deal both personally and professionally over the years since the end of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, but they haven't lost the magic that made them so much fun to watch together.

The two former co-hosts would also battle it out against another pair to see who knew their respective partner better. It was a Newlywed Game-esque contest that pitted the longtime co-hosts against a married couple, and it was a pretty close contest. While challengers Brad and Marcy did eventually win, Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford did a pretty solid job channeling the classic old married couple banter, even if they didn't nail every single question correctly.

It was nice to see Regis Philbin having a good time with a screen parter. He revealed to Larry King earlier this year that he and Kelly Ripa did not keep in touch because "she got very offended" when he left and thought he was leaving "because of her." His relationship with Kathie Lee Gifford clearly isn't strained, as we could see from his appearance on Gifford's hour of Today. Hopefully this appearance means that he'll be back on Today every once in a while. I know I'd be interested in seeing how he would fit in with both Kathie Lee Gifford and Hota Kotb.
