While many people would die to have Bill Murray show up at their front door this December for caroling, everyone will just have to make do with the esteemed actor belting out Christmas hits on their televisions instead.
When it comes to the holiday spirit, it’s all well and good until it’s not, meaning: sometimes you need a break from your family! Or in the very least, some sort of inanimate object you can all gather ‘round and stare at in silence while the heady goodness that is a Christmas morning food coma sets in. And while the Yule Log is all well and good for some, it is but one option in a sea of many, and doesn't necessarily work for everyone. But fear not, for the answer to your "what to watch on Christmas Day" quandary is here!
“A pile of wood meets its destiny” in this hot new official trailer for Netflix’s Fireplace for your Home programming. Gone are the days when the crackling log programming goes without a trailer to promote its fiery awesomeness. We’re living in the Netflix era and in the case of Fireplace For Your Home, I’d say a trailer is warranted, if only to remind Netflix streaming subscribers that they can squeeze a little more juice out of their subscription by streaming all of the yule log and instrumental Christmas tunes they can handle on their TV sets.
If NBC’s vying to win Christmas this year, they’re certainly doing a good job of lining up points. The Peacock will broadcast the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is arguably the holiday season’s official kick-off event. But some people don’t consider it to be the holiday season until that big tree in Rockefeller Center is lit, and wouldn’t you know it? NBC’s broadcasting that as well. The network announced some of the details for the annual event, including a list of celebrities set to perform.
It’s a time-honored tradition in many homes to watch It’s a Wonderful Life around the holidays. And even though many of us who love this film probably own it on DVD or Blu-ray, but there’s still something to be said for seeing the film when it airs on TV, which only happens twice during the holiday season, believe or not. NBC has the dates set up for the 2013 airings. This year, It’s A Wonderful Life will air Saturday, December 14 (8-11 p.m. ET) and Tuesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve - 8-11 p.m. ET).
It's October, which means, it's Christmas time? Ok, not really, but we are at the point where talk of the holidays will start to sneak up on us. ABC Family is gearing up for their annual 25 Days of Christmas event, which traditionally begins December 1 and runs every day up to Christmas with a slew of holiday programming. That includes classic holiday films -- both animated and live-action -- and some original movies.
Series 7 of Doctor Who is underway, and fans of the series are about to get a doozy of an episode. As usual, the hit sci fi series is producing a very special holiday episode, and this year the BBC America series is putting a focus on the Doctor’s newest companion, Jenna Louise Coleman, who will show up for the second time in the series during the special episode. Now, the upcoming endeavor has earned a trailer, and a title, “The Snowmen.”
You weren't the only one with a memorable holiday break, however. For instance, this year Conan O'Brien decided to break his long-standing tradition and actually participate in his staff's Secret Santa contest. Naturally, he posted a video of it. Once he actually finds a staffer he recognizes, he's left with the task of coming up with a clever gift for talent coordinator Ashley Olivia. I wonder how it all worked out...

It wasn't that long ago that we were all celebrating A Very GaGa Thanksgiving but, once that holiday's turkey is cleared away it's immediately time for, uh, more turkey? And presents and trees and the whole deal. Yes, December begins tomorrow so everyone should start their Christmas prep by bracing yourselves for the inevitable onslaught of specials like A Michael Bublé Christmas on NBC.
It’s almost that time of year again! As December approaches, ABC Family is prepared to bring back their annual 25 Days of Christmas countdown and as usual, it’s full of family fun and holiday cheer.
