25-year-old account manager Wes (James McAvoy) was the most pathetic, cube-dwelling hypochondriac the planet had ever known. Those who've been hoping for a follow-up to the 2008 action film Wanted to be pleased to know that a script is in the works. In fact, Wanted screenwriter Derek Haas and his writing partner Michael Brandt are preparing to submit the second draft for the sequel's script. But, if you were hoping the sequel would bring back Angelina Jolie's character Fox, you may be in for a disappointment.

Now it's up to us to figure out how this fits into last fall's news about Derek Haas and Michael Brandt writing the script, since A) there are two of them and not just "the writer" as Bekmambetov says, and B) if he came up with this idea a few weeks ago, what have they been working on for the last 9 months?

Wanted 2 Is On Track, Won't Bring Anyone Back From The Dead
Given the fact that Twitter limits messages to 140 characters, Haas’s statement lacked any real details beyond the hiring. Will Angelina Jolie's assassin, Fox, return for the sequel? She has said in the past that she did not plan to return to the character, but plans change all of the time. How about James McAvoy, whose character seemed ready to take the next big step in the final scenes of Bekmambetov’s original?

Wanted Screenwriters Derek Haas And Michael Brandt Hired To Pen Sequel
Jim Lemley, the producing partner of Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov, recently said they’d still like to tell more stories from that gun-toting universe (adapted from Mark Millar’s comic book series) and have not ruled out Jolie’s participation. The actress, however, has said in the past that she would not return for potential sequels, so Lemley said they’re circling is big enough that the franchise could move forward without her.
