If you're looking for something to do this holiday season other than spend time with friends and family, EA invites you to visit a galaxy far, far away.
Over the weekend, EA will be hosting a handful of promotions for Star Wars: Battlefront, according to VG24/7, which should serve as a nice distraction if you just need to get away from all of the festivities for a few hours. Apparently, all current versions of the game are up-to-date and ready to roll for this upcoming online party, too, so you won't even have to worry about updating the game before diving in.
If you've got a copy of Star Wars: Battlefront, or perhaps you received one as an early Christmas present, then you'll be able to jump into EA's planned festivities across all versions of the game from Dec. 23-25. During that period, you'll earn a credit bonus of 5,000 just for logging in, meaning you've got a whole bunch of in-game cash to spend on upgrades and the like.
So now that you've spent all of your free credits, it's time to jump into the online action. As part of this holiday promotion, everyone will also enjoy a 2X score multiplier in Battlefront this weekend, helping them level up at twice the usual speed.
On top of that, if you never picked up the Death Star expansion back in September, the content from that DLC will be unlocked for all comers throughout the holiday weekend. If you've never tried out the space fights, new heroes, maps and more that came in that particular Battlefront expansion, this weekend's free access should help you decide if it's worth taking the plunge.
So not a bad way to kill some time this weekend if you haven't booted up Battlefront in a while. Still, we wouldn't have been upset if EA decided to do like some other developers and really up the ante this holiday season. Games like Overwatch and even Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered have decked out entire maps in lights and trees, with games like Paragon and more offering up some holiday-themed skins, too. Not that every game needs to follow suit, just that we would love to see what the Death Star looks like with a bunch of red and green lights haphazardly strung up all over the place.
