Another week means another update for PlayStation Plus, Sony's subscription-based service offering games, discounts and more. With 2012 drawing to a close, Anomaly: Warzone Earth is this week's big release for the Plus Instant Game Collection, complemented by a selection of deep discounts on a pretty large collection of games.

While titles like BioShock 2, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Rochard have already made an appearance in December's weekly PlayStation Plus updates, at least one more title is being added to the rotating list of free games this month, Sci-Fi reverse tower defense action game Anomaly: Warzone Earth. Anomaly is a “reverse” tower defense game because, unlike in most games in the genre, you will be controlling the forces invading the towers rather than setting up said towers yourself. An alien race has set up shop in cities all over the planet and it's up to you and your elite group of soldiers, hulking tanks and space-age weaponry to send them packing.

Along with Anomaly, Plus subscribers will also receive additional discounts on the PlayStation Network's “Holiday Essentials Sale,” as well as Sega's Holiday Sale. Everything from puzzle-RPG Catherine to Rayman Origins is going on sale this week, including several Vita titles like Escape Plan and Rayman Origins. The Sega Holiday Sale also features a bunch of big hits at tiny prices, including recent Metroidvania platforming title Hell Yeah, Crazy Taxi and the Sega Heritage Collection. A complete list of all of this week's sales, including regular and additional Plus discounts, can be found on the PlayStation Blog.
