There has been a slew of possible leaks and rumors squeezing their way out to the public over the last few months, including a possible release date and details on the official name of the new installment. But now EA and DICE are ready to set the record straight. Battlefield 5 will hopefully be officially revealed on Friday, May 6.

If you want to watch the worldwide premiere, you can do as at 1 p.m. Pacific / 4 p.m. Eastern right on Battlefield’s homepage.  In an article we posted a couple months ago, we talked about one of those leaks which may have revealed that Battlefield 5 might be set in World War I. The article described a listing on a Swiss retailer which described Battlefield 5 as “Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1.”

And also about a month ago, a few leaked images made the rounds on the internet that described Battlefield 5 as being titled, “Eastern Front” along with a June 12 reveal date during EA Play and a December 6, 2016 release date. But again, since none of this information was confirmed, we can’t say anything is for sure until the actual worldwide reveal on May 6.

While EA and DICE didn’t follow the leaked document’s initial reveal date which was scheduled during EA Play (the week of E3), it’s nice that we’ll be getting some sort of confirmation or denial from the developer and publisher. I think there’s just been so many leaks and whisperings that are up in the air, that it’s time to put those to rest for good. I admire a company who knows when it’s time to tell the fans the truth. I hope they have some kind of reveal trailer so that we can all see what we’ll be getting into. With Call Of Duty moving into the sci-fi realm, it’ll be refreshing and reassuring to see a beloved FPS franchise sticking to what they know best.

It’s nice that so many reveals nowadays can be witnessed by the public via the internet, because when I was younger, you just had to hear about it in the news. Or you were lucky enough to have G4, who was then more into the video game business and would air that kind of thing.

You can tune in to Battlefield’s official website next Friday on May 6 at 1 p.m. Pacific / 4 p.m. Eastern to take part and experience the major reveal for yourself.
