Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey HD Now Getting Weird On PS3

The final piece of the Oddworld puzzle has finally fallen into place with this week's release of Munch's Odyssey HD on the PlayStation Network.

The Oddworld series got its start on the original PlayStation with Abe's Odyssey and Abe's Exodus, a pair of side-scrolling platform puzzle games featuring titular hero, Abe, and a world so bizarre that its zaniness was only topped by the creatures that inhabited it.

The legacy continued in 2002 with the release of Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey for the original Xbox, eventually followed by Stranger's Wrath. While Stranger has had his time to shine on PlayStation thanks to an HD relaunch earlier this year and a trip to the Vita last week, Munch is finally being given the opportunity to join the party with this week's release of Munch's Odyssey HD on PSN.

Munch's newly released remake is only available for PlayStation 3 right now but, according to the PlayStation Blog, a Vita version of the game will be made available in early 2013.

Munch's Odyssey HD tells the strange tale of Munch, a weird little creature who just so happens to be the last of his kind. With the help of Abe, Munch must escape a nasty science compound, release his fellow test subjects and, if he's lucky, collect enough eggs to save his species.

This newest version of the game comes with a slick new HD paint job, refined controls and a full set of trophies to keep things interesting. Look for Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey HD on PSN right now.
