In two short weeks, Persona 4 Arena will make its console debut. To get everyone psyched up about this spin-off of the RPG series, Arc System Works has released the game's intro movie.
Persona 4 Arena takes place a couple months after the events of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. Teddie has disappeared and his friends have begun searching high and low for him. They find out that he's participating in a mysterious tournament called the P-1 Grand Prix. The group decides to join the tournament in order to find out what exactly happened to Teddie. It's a bit of a stretch but what fighting game doesn't have a tortured story?
Gameplay wise, Arena offers up 2D fighting with some twists. Each character can summon a magical being known as a Persona to help them in battle. Furthermore, combatants need to draw from a finite supply of energy (indicated by a bar at the bottom of the screen) in order to perform special abilities.
Arena first arrives in Japan on July 26th. It'll then hit North America on August 7th and Europe on the 31st.
