A nice buffet of new screenshots have been released to the public thanks to the Project CARS community. Quite naturally, community screenshots mean that they aren't PR-approved, they weren't pre-selected from the publisher and they aren't bullshots to make the game look any different than how it will run on your PC or home console.
I think Project CARS is one of the few games I enjoy covering when it comes to media assets because I know it's straight from the horses mouth. There are no gimmicks or tricks to the screenshots and trailers: what you see is what you'll get.
For some of the shots it's really hard to tell real-life from the game. It's not just the lighting and texture work but it's the clarity of the shots that make them stand out so much. The new batch of screenshots were picked up by DSO Gaming, who spotted the in-game screens from the official Project CARS website. The game itself is being partially crowd-funded and is also being worked on by the community as well, including custom liveries and some minor tweaks to the game.
All the in-game trailers are also handled by the community, which is pretty cool considering that most trailers are specifically put together by PR and marketing groups in order to get the most reach or demographic penetration for the media assets. It just feels like a breath of fresh air knowing that the community is promoting a game to the community. It's a cool concept and I hope we get to see more of it for future game releases.
You can check out the new in-game screenshots of Project CARS below or head on over to the Official Website to learn more about the game. Slightly Mad Studios' racer is set for release later this year for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC.
