Richard "Lord British" Garriott, the Ultima designer and recent space tourist, has announced that he will be leaving Tabula Rasa developer NCsoft to pursue new interests.
Garriott informed the public of his departure in an open letter on the official Rasa website. "Many of you probably wonder what my plans are, now that I have achieved the lifelong dream of going to space. Well, that unforgettable experience has sparked some new interests that I would like to devote my time and resources to. As such, I am leaving NCsoft to pursue those interests."
Not exactly a good omen for Rasa, which we previously reported can be bought for less than a dollar. It's possible problems with the game/company might have spurred the departure. Still, there's no reason to doubt his trip to space caused him to change his career path.
Obviously a lot of people will read his farewell and think, "He's gonna make a space exploration MMO!" That's entirely possible. It could be he's leaving the games industry entirely, though. Either way: good luck, space cowboy.
